We recently visited the Viet Nam Vets Memorial in Angel Fire New Mexico. The memorial was established by Dr David Westphall for his son, Lt. David Victor Westphall III, who was killed in Viet Nam in May of 1968. I was serving in Viet Nam the same time as his son and wasn't far away from the area where he was killed. I was totally overwhelmed with emotions visiting this memorial.

Out of respect for my falling comrades I kept my photography to a minimum so as not to disrupt other visitors, used no flashes or tripods.

One thing that I came to realize was how many Native Americans served in this war and gave there lives for there country. This was something that was never covered by the American press as far as I know.

The memorial is set high up on a bluff
overlooking a beautiful valley that some day will be a veterans cemetery. it is a beautiful setting. It is a place where the mountains meet the sky, where the eagles and hawks fly and it is the place I will lie when I die.
